“DESCRIPTION OF THE LEVEL OF PREMATURE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT
THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF MENOPAUSE AT THE BUKIT HINDU
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER”
Background: To help women prepare for menopause, understanding the signs and
symptoms is crucial. Life expectancy for women was recorded at 72.02 years,
reaching 73 in 2017 and 73.46 in 2020. Meanwhile, the estimated average age of
menopause in Indonesia is 48. Therefore, it is necessary to educate women about
the signs and symptoms and increase their knowledge about coping with
menopause.
Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional
design. The study population was 4,702 pre-elderly women, with a sample of 30
respondents selected using accidental sampling. The research instrument was a
questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using univariate methods using
frequency and percentage distributions.
Research Results: The results of the study showed that the majority of pre-elderly
had good knowledge regarding the signs and symptoms of menopause, namely 23
respondents (77%), 6 respondents (20%) were in the sufficient category, and only 1
respondent (3%) were in the poor category.
Conclusion: Most of the pre-elderly at the Bukit Hindu Community Health Center
have a good understanding of the signs and symptoms of menopause, so it is
recommended that health workers, especially at the Bukit Hindu Community Health
Center, continue to disseminate information about the signs and symptoms of
menopause in the pre-elderly and elderly.
