MIDWIFERY CARE FOR 60 YEAR-OLD Mrs. S WITH
HYPERTENSION IN THE REGION WORK OF
KAYON COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER

ABSTRACT
Background The number of elderly people (elderly) in Indonesia reached 22.6
million people, which is equivalent to 11.75% of the total population. and the
Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the percentage of elderly people
(elderly) in Indonesia was 11.75%, This figure increased by 1.27% points
compared to the previous year which was 10.48% with a life expectancy of 70.1%
Hypertension or high blood pressure is the number one cause of death in the
world, with 90-95% of cases dominated by essential hypertension, while the data
obtained at the Kayon Health Center showed that the number of hypertension
sufferers from January to June 2025 in the elderly was 212 or 4.17%.
Objective This study aims to provide midwifery care regarding hypertension in
the elderly at the Kayon Community Health Center.
Method This research used a descriptive method in the form of a case study with
a cross-sectional approach. The study population was elderly people with
hypertension..
Results The research conducted on Mrs. S for 3 days on the first day of the
research was to conduct subjective data examination Mrs. S said, headache, and
often experienced blurred vision, and chest pain, while from objective data an
examination was carried out such as BP: 164/94, RR: 22x / m, BB: 70 kg, Pulse:
99 x / m, Temperature: 36.5Âșc, Tb: 160 cm, from the results of the examination it
can be diagnosed that Mrs. S has hypertension so that the researcher provided
midwifery care such as, telling the mother about the mother's complaints, telling
the results of the examination and how to overcome them, recommending the
mother to control at the health center, telling the mother how to overcome
hypertension and telling the mother to take hypertension medication such as
amplodipine and soursop leaf decoction. This research was conducted for 3 days
until the results were as expected.
Conclusion. From the results that have been carried out on Mrs. S for 3 days,
Mrs. S was diagnosed with hypertension, on the first day of the study, Mrs. S's
blood pressure was 164/94 mmHg, so that after being given midwifery care for 3
days, Mrs. S already knew how to deal with hypertension and on the 3rd day of
the study it was found that Mrs. S's blood pressure was already at the normal
limit, namely 130/70 so that Mrs. S's problem could be resolved.
