DESCRIPTION OF ELDERLY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT REPRODUCTIVE
HEALTH IN THE ELDERLY AT KAYON PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER

ABSTRACT
Background Reproductive health issues in the elderly have a significant impact
on quality of life, including 67.4% experiencing urogenital problems. These issues
are often overlooked due to a lack of knowledge among elderly people involved in
reproductive health. A preliminary study conducted through observation and simple
interviews with 10 respondents at the Kayon Community Health Center showed
that most elderly people still lack knowledge about reproductive health in old age..
Research purposes This study aims to determine the description of elderly
knowledge about reproductive health in the elderly at the Kayon Community Health
Center.
Method This study uses a descriptive research type with an elderly population in
the Kayon Community Health Center work area and the research sample uses the
Accidental Sampling technique with a sample size of 43 elderly people.
Results The study showed that the majority of respondents had a good level of
knowledge about reproductive health in the elderly with a total of 27 respondents
(62.79%), respondents had sufficient knowledge of 11 respondents (25.58%) and
respondents had insufficient knowledge of 5 respondents (11.63). Meanwhile,
respondents based on age were mostly aged 60-74 years with a total of 38
respondents (88.37%), gender was dominated by women with a total of 32
respondents (74.42%), and education was mostly in the high school category with
a total of 18 respondents (41.86%).
Conclusion The results of this study show the need for ongoing education tailored
to the characteristics of older adults, especially those with limited knowledge and
lower secondary education. Healthcare workers need to improve education
through regular, easy-to-understand counseling, especially for older adults with low
levels of knowledge.
